Before you go, think about this…
According to “The Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God” everything has a cause, so the universe itself must have a cause. That cause is God. A fault is that the conclusion contradicts the premise. As everything has a cause then God must have a cause. That cause must also have a cause, and on ad infinitum.
The clergy tried to correct the argumant by saying that everything has a cause except God. God is a causa sui, a cause in and of itself. But once something is admitted as not having a cause then the logic is imperfect. If God does not have a cause, then it is not true that everything must have a cause. God is invented as the hypothetical First Cause, but why invent something as uncaused when the universe itself could be uncaused, and therefore the First Cause. The real failure of the argument is not that there must be a First Cause, but that God is assumed to be it.

Trends working at least marginally towards the implantation of a very narrow range of attitudes, memories and opinions include control of major television networks and newspapers by a small number of similarly motivated powerful corporations and individuals, the disappearance of competitive daily newspapers in many cities, the replacement of substantive debate by sleaze in political campaigns, and episodic erosion of the principle of the separation of powers.
