Draft Impeachment Letter:
Democrats and Republicans in Congress, as well as Blair, say their war against Iraq was to make the world safe from weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), and Saddam’s violations of UN resolutions. If that is so, then the same principles can be applied to Israel, which also has WMDs and ignores UN resolutions. Bombing Baghdad into dust is the answer to one problem. Is bombing Jerusalem the answer to the other? Oh no! The US government is utterly hypocritical.Never had the spin doctors been so successful. The propaganda they spouted was freely accepted by Publicus Scriblerus defending war and the erosion of democracy in newpaper editorials. The French were unreasonable because they would not accept the Bush/Blair timetable for war. British senior ministers resigned and decried Blair for being “reckless”. Even the Spanish Prime Minister told Secretary of Defense, Rumsfeld to shut up, but Cheney’s Halliburton had a plum out of the international banditry. Truth is indeed the first casualty of war. Were reporters getting bonuses like the bankers for uncritically publishing spin?
Blair was properly elected in the UK but ignored the rank and file in every important matter. He and Bush, who was not properly elected at all, ignored the UN, thus demolishing the legal basis of international affairs. The contempt they showed for the law should make everyone shudder, and remind us that they must be brought to book if the reputation of the US and UK are to survive.

Protest
Send them to local newspapers too. Pester local and national representatives, MPs, Governors, Senators, PMs, Presidents, anyone important, with as many as you need to get attention. Let them know the killing—and destruction of our own hard won democracy in the name of the “war on terrorism&rdquo—were not in our names!
